  1. We are having the same problem with Iron man on our PS3 as well as Forgetting Sarah Marshall… I for one would really like to know what the hell is going on… Maybe Sony changed the format of the Blu-Ray so the newer ones do not work on PS3. I really have no clue just irritated!

Just got Forgetting Sarah Marshall to work. Did a system update but Iron Man is loading and going to wait and see if it ever turns on.
    Rented it from blockbuster

  2. I just bought this from wal-mart and i’m having this same problem with just the blue chest piece loading. I don’t know if I should go back to walmart and get another one or try one from like best-buy.

Update: So I just did some more research. Disable your network before you put the disc in and it’ll play. I’m gonna take it back tomorrow because this is a defective copy but you can at least watch the movie this way, you just cant get the BD-LIVE feature

  3. Ditto with mine. I just picked up the 2-disk from Target. The chest-plate thing comes on, and then nothing. I tried it again, and it went through to the options, but I tried to go to the BD Live part, and it tells me there is no network connection. Yet, I can go to the Playstation store, the internet, etc on the PS3 w/o the disk. They must have not gotten all the defective disks replaced.

Man, that really angers me >:(

  4. if this happens on your PS3…

    disable your network settings.

and the movie should work now. =)

I had the same trouble. I went to best buy and exchange mine but it did the same. So I disable the network and it plays but of course the BD-Live section doesn’t work.

  6. I got my copy at Target and got the same error. I play my blu-rays from a pc, but the solution as in the PS3 is the same. Just disable the internet network connection and the movie plays.

  7. The chest plate that you see is basically the loading decal that you see while the disc loads onto you PS3′s Cache or in other words memory. I let it load for 8 minutes and now it is working fine. Some newer blu-ray Discs need time to load especially the big titles. Dark Knight will be the same. long loads (hopefully not), but it is only a one time thing second time it will not load as long. Transformers was like that for me. Screen that said …..LOADING….. It needs to do this so that you guys will see better quality out of the discs itself. pretty small memory. KBs and MBs that is it, but takes a while. hopefully not offending anyone, but you guys need to be a little patient. Sorry if I did.

  8. I bought an Ironman in blu-ray also yesterday from Best Buy. Based on the UPC I had supposedly gotten a “defective” one:

    Defective UPC: 097361385747
    New “Fixed” UPC: 097361385709

BUT, it still plays on PS3. I believe the defect was that it would play on PS3 but not on some other players, so it is up to you whether you want to exchange for the newer UPC.

The glowing blue circle has something to do with the BD Live downloading stuff to your PS3 before it will play. If you leave it long enough it will finish downloading and allow you to play the blu-ray disc. It took mine over half an hour, I just left it on, watched TV, ejected the disc, put it back in, and it worked. If you want a quick fix you should turn off your internet on your PS3. Do this by going to the setting “BD/DVD Settings” and changing the automatic internet download setting from “Allow” to “Confirm”. After this, play the blu-ray disc and you should get a prompt asking if you want to let it download or not, select “No”, and the disc will start playing.
